[ Viola ]

Spontaneously, I decided to buy a big viola, since I wanted to know also how it is completely without rosin on the bow. Soon, I realized that the bow was but touched a bit by rosin, and I have been playing much with this bow, in the last two weeks, to get it free of it. Regularly, the left rosin is softly wiped down the hair of the bow with a handkerchief by me. Fact is that I couldn’t play a violin or viola ‘with’ rosin. It’s the pressure on the strings that I cannot exert to sound fine and pleasant. So, without rosin on the bow, one does not exert pressure to have fine tones, at least at the beginning now, with maybe still a bit of rosin on the bow. The only thing that is negative later, probably, once the bow is totally free of rosin, is that the instrument would be too silent for a recording, but, therapeutically viewed, the tones are absolutely effective.
